Being a YouTuber is not a profession?

What is YouTube?

YouTube is one of the biggest video platforms on the internet. Anyone with a google account can open a YouTube channel for free, and anyone on the internet can upload and watch these videos. YouTube was launched back in 2005 and as of 2022, there are over 800 million videos among 37 million channels. It is indeed one of the most significant platforms for procrastination. People of all ages enjoy their favourite type of content on YouTube because video on every content is available on YouTube. There is even an option as Kid's mode known as YouTube Kids, which parents can use to refrain their children from inappropriate videos for a child.

Who are YouTubers?

Audiences who watch the videos can subscribe to the YouTube channel. By doing so, audiences can always know when a new video is on the channel. As the channel gets more views and subscribers, the channel gets more views and reach. That is how a community or a fanbase is created. The owner of the channel is generally called YouTubers. However, the owner of the channel may not always be a specific person. Many companies, brands, music bands and labels have YouTube channels too. However, usually, they are not known as YouTubers.

How do YouTubers earn?

To earn directly from YouTube videos, the channel has to be monetised. Once the channel has grown enough and gained a good amount of subscribers, YouTube allows the channel for monetisation. By doing so, the owner of the channel earns a small percentage from the views that the videos receive. Also, there is an AdSense option. By enabling it, YouTubers can also earn from the ads shown in the videos. However, there are other ways a YouTuber can earn money. Many companies and product bands ask to promote their products in their videos. In return, YouTubers earn a good amount of money. This is how YouTubers can earn from sponsors.

The usual social perspective towards YouTubers

Though YouTubers can earn from making videos, society does not seem to think of it as a profession. Many teenagers and even adults create a YouTube channel out of passion and consider it as a profession when the channel grows big enough. But sometimes their families or relatives underestimate them and keep saying them to get a job. This perspective needs to be changed as now there are many YouTubers out there living a peaceful life choosing YouTubing as a profession. Moreover, some people may criticize YouTubers for being overly focused on their appearance or for promoting consumerism through sponsored content or merchandise sales. Additionally, the pressure to constantly create new content and maintain a large following can be stressful and overwhelming for some YouTubers.

Bright Sides of being a YouTuber

One of the key benefits of being a YouTuber is the freedom and flexibility it offers. As a YouTuber, you are your own boss and can set your own schedule and work from anywhere with an internet connection. This allows you to work at your own pace and create content that you are passionate about. Another benefit of being a YouTuber is the potential for financial success. While it may take time and effort to build a following and monetize your channel, successful YouTubers can earn a significant income through advertising revenue, sponsorships, and merchandise sales. However, it is important to note that becoming a successful YouTuber requires hard work and dedication. It takes time to build a following and create engaging content that resonates with your audience. It also requires consistent effort to grow and maintain your channel. Despite the challenges, many individuals have found great success and fulfilment as YouTubers. If someone is passionate about creating content and is willing to put in the work, being a YouTuber can be a rewarding and lucrative profession.

Examples of Successful YouTubers

There are many YouTubers who are successful both in our country and globally. PewDiePie is known as the greatest YouTuber of all time. He was the world's most subscribed channel until T-Series surpassed him in 2019 and again Mr.beast surpassed him recently in 2022. PewDiePie is a prime example of how a young boy from Sweden grew into the biggest YouTuber of all time. From Bangladesh, Salman Muqtadir was the first YouTuber to hit 1 million subscribers. Now there are many YouTubers who achieved huge success in this expertise.

The world is changing so fast right now, and we must adapt to the new setups of how the world is working. It is high time we must consider YouTubing as a profession too.
