WOMEN RIGHTS: BRING THE WOMEN ON THE HEELS
December 18,2022
In the present world, talking about women rights mainly covers two topics- discrimination and empowerment. Not implementing women rights has become a great issue on earth. When we talk about women rights, we can discover the challenges and the consequences women face in every sector of life. On the other hand, women’s empowerment means equality. It’s about giving women the equal freedom to make their own choices, and the opportunity for choice – without judgement. Implementation of women rights and empowering women can change the world- as they will change women’s lives.
The main challenge women face is discrimination in everywhere. Women discrimination underpins many problem like domestic and sexual violence, lower pay, lack of access to education and career opportunities, inadequate healthcare etc. It really affects the rights of the population of half of the world. Due to sexual assault and domestic violence, women are losing their rights of being safe and sound. In job sectors, women are being abused and injustice is being happening only for their gender. For instance, among 18 institution surveyed, women frequently reported inappropriate touch, sexual remarks, gestures and suggestive looks. And female doctors, more than male doctors, reported that their gender negatively impacted their career opportunities. In the poor countries like Bangladesh, it is very common to prioritize the sons to have the access to education. Most women are not financially independent in the world compared to men. It causes being dominated by men in the male dominated society like Bangladesh. When we talking about safety and security, no girl in this world is safe from sexual violence. Surveys show that females are being sexually assaulted and do not be opened about it due to humiliation and fear. When a large number of women are illiterate, it is very stupid to expect a literate nation , as if a mother is uneducated, her children can not go a long run. Due to some religious belief, women do not get proper respect as they have to obey men. Thus, she is dominated and abused mentally. She can not get what she deserves due to the discrimination. Security of women is decreasing day by day. In Bangladesh, sexual assaults and rape cases are happening everday, yet no justice. In the Pohela Boishakh celebrations of 2015, the assault on several women in the heart of the celebrations at Dhaka University shocked the entire nation. At least 20 women were sexually assaulted in an hour, right under the nose of police, by a group of men on the evening of April 14, 2015, during the Bengali New year celebrations near Dhaka University campus. Those are becoming common incidents and those incidents hinder and disrespect the rights of a woman. On the other hand, women empowerment supports and respects the rights of women, opens the door to prove them in their deserving sectors.

Empowerment of women should be established and empowering women is essential to the health and social development of families, communities and countries. When women are living safe, fulfilled and productive lives, they can reach their full potential, contributing their skills to the workforce and can raise happier and healthier children. Empowerment enables leaders and team members to live to their fullest potential and to own their own work. Leaders who build a culture of empowerment set their people up for success in three major ways by enabling employees to: Experience continual growth. For example, we can talk about Singapore’s president Halimah Yacob. She has been working for the development of Singapore for many days and the country is one of the wealthiest countries in the world. In order to implementing women rights, people should start teaching their children, especially sons and the other male persons how to respect a woman. They should be taught and trained about respecting and maintaining the rights of a woman. The government and the organizations should come forward to create laws and the proper execution. Moreover, public figures and media should be ready to make examples why women rights and empowerment is needed. For example, Lady Gaga has recently been open about her sexual assault which encourages a lot of women. Women should not stay silent when any kind of abuse happens to her and protest about it.
To sum up, we should agree that women should be empowered more and have the deserving floor to prove themselves. As we can see how creating new opportunities is empowering women and helping the socio-economic development of a country. Women empowerment and their rights should be implemented properly if a nation wants to prosper and develop.
